Product Notes

Barbadillo Manzanilla Extra Dry is an exotic, Spanish sherry that boasts a distinct and delicious flavor. Made exclusively from 100% Palomino grapes, this Manzanilla sherry is extra dry and has become an increasingly popular choice among sherry-lovers worldwide. The pale, golden color of this sherry is complemented beautifully by its crisp, fruity aroma with a hint of salinity. This Manzanilla sherry has a flavorful and refreshing taste with notes of green apples, citrus, and nuts. Barbadillo Manzanilla Extra Dry is a perfect aperitif to serve with traditional Spanish tapas, seafood dishes, salads, and sushi. It is best served chilled, making it an ideal choice for warm summer days or celebratory gatherings with friends and family.

Tasting Notes

Pale straw yellow. Classic Manzanilla aromas, reminiscent of the ocean and fresh dough, are revealed on the nose. Fresh and dry on the palate, with good body and a lingering aftertaste, resulting in an overal sensation of satisfaction.

About the Winery

Barbadillo

Benigno Barbadillo Hortiguela established this family-owned winery in the year 1821. He moved to Sanlucar after living n Mexico for 20 years, and he set up his company in this region, understanding the potential and richness of the terroirs here. Today, this wine brand is the biggest producer of Manzanilla varietal in the Jerez region.

Currently, the seventh-generation Barbadillo family runs and manages the winery and vineyards. The vineyards stretch across 500 hectares, and they can be located in the estates of Gibalbin and Santa Lucia. Both these estates are found in the region of Jerez Superior. Of the two, the Gibalbin estate is more popular and is home to the modern and sophisticated winemaking plant. Currently, the Barbadillo group stores and ages its wines in 17 beautiful and temperature-controlled cellars located across some of Sanlucar de Barrameda's premium regions. Together, these cellars have a total capacity of 35million liters, making it the largest unit in Sanlucar.

The Manzanilla Solear range of wines are some of the best and iconic white wines you will ever taste in this region. In the year 1975, Barbadillo produced the Castillo de San Diego Wine, and it went on to become the bestselling white wine in Spain in a very short time. Today, the Barbadillo group has 16 ageing wineries in Sanlucar. They also have an exclusive winemaking plant for red and white grapes separately.

The white grapes used for these wines are Palomino, Sauvignon Blanc, and Verdejo. Palomino is the one used for making the iconic wines of this label including Manzanilla, Fino, Amontillado, Oloroso and Palo Cortado. The red varietals used for Barbadillo wines are Tempranillo, Tintilla, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. Of all these, Tempranillo is the most planted varietal, and it is used for some of the popular wines, such as Gibalbin, Quadis and Quadis Crianza.
