The Italian wine label of Bellavista was founded in the year 1977, in Franciacorta by Vittorio Moretti. What was once a small, family-owned wine brand, got developed into a technologically-sophisticated winery in about three decades’ time.
The vineyards from where grapes are sourced for these wines are located on top of the Bellavista Hill, which explains the reason for the name of this label. Today, the Moretti family owns 198 hectares of land in one of Italy’s wine-rich areas of Franciacorta.
There are around 107 vineyards located in the Alpine foothills, with close proximity to the Lake Iseo and Monte Orfano. The climate, soil and the overall terroir of this place helps the grapes to express themselves fully well when they become ripe and nice. Grapes are neatly hand-picked and sorted according to the vineyards from where they were picked.
The winemaking principle followed here is to be as close to nature as possible in all the processes starting from the vineyards to the wine. Some of the popular Bellavista wines are:
Alma Brut
This unique wine brings out the distinct qualities of the Franciacorta terroir through its taste. It is made from 77% Chardonnay, 22% Pinot Nero and 1% Pinot Blanco grape varietals.
Alma Non Dosato
This Cuvee comes with purity, elegance and agility that are characteristic features of the contemporary Franciacorta region. It is made from 90% Chardonnay and 10% Pinot Nero varietals.
Pas Opere
This wine is at least 3 decades old and the grapes are sourced from the Pas Opere vineyards, one of the best hillside vineyards ever, in this area. 65% Chardonnay and 35% Pinot Nero are used for making this wine.
Saten
This white wine is made from 100% Chardonnay grape varietals grown in the hillside vineyards only. The altitude of the vines gives a wonderful exposure to this wine.
