Product Notes

Errazuriz Viñedo Chadwick Cabernet Sauvignon is a luxurious and bold wine that boasts of a deep, rich ruby color and a complex aroma of blackcurrant, cherry, and blackberry jam. On the palate, the wine presents flavors of ripe fruit, chocolate, and cedar with soft, yet firm tannins. Its full-bodied structure is balanced with a refreshing acidity, leaving a long and lingering finish. This wine is a pure expression of Cabernet Sauvignon, grown in the steep hills of the Aconcagua Valley. It is aged in French oak barrels for 22-24 months, bringing out the subtle nuances of the grapes. Errazuriz Viñedo Chadwick Cabernet Sauvignon is a wine to savor and appreciate on special occasions, alongside hearty meats and savory cheeses.

Tasting Notes

Deep, bright ruby colour. Fresh red fruits followed by soft notes of liquorice and gooseberries, and some herbal tones, with nuances of cedar, cigar box and cloves. Full-bodied, the wine offers the same rich fresh fruit impressions in the palate accompanied by soft herbal notes, leather bean, tobacco, liquorice and bitter chocolate. The mouth feel is elegant and round, with highly structured but finely polished tannins.

About the Winery

Errazuriz Viñedo Chadwick

The venture of Errazuriz Viñedo Chadwick started with the journey of Alfonso Chadwick Errázuriz. Alfonso had a passion for wines and vineyards that led him to convert his polo-playing field into a grape plantation area. It produced wine that got named after him in his honour.

Deemed a visionary of his time, Alfonso is said to have modernised the wine industry of Chile. He took over the ownership of Viña Errázuriz in 1983. Alfonso’s ancestor, Don Maximiano Errázuriz, established Viña Errázuriz in 1870 in the Aconcagua Valley. After taking over, Alfonso asked his son, Eduardo Chadwick, to work with him and restore the prestige and fame of the winery to what it initially was.

Alfonso established the first wine brokerage in Chile in the early 1930s. In 1942, he purchased the 300 hectares of the Viña San José de Tocornal estate and its associated vineyards in the Alto Maipo Valley. Ever since then, the grapes of the land remained to be of exceptional quality. Later, when the property got divided, the family retained the principal 25 hectares of land and their home. They also kept Alfonso’s polo field.

After Alfonso passed away, Eduardo took over as the President of Errazuriz Viñedo Chadwick to continue his legacy, pursuit, and passion for superior quality wines. In today’s time, the winery follows and implements sustainable viticulture practices. It provides and creates a natural environment for the plants to grow without any chemical fertilisers and pesticides. The farming decisions followed by the staff and workers ensure that the fruits get harvested at optimal uniformity and ripeness. The quality of the grapevines and their produce gets guaranteed by a unique technical drip system of irrigation that the winery uses. All these factors help attain an excellent standard of the wines produced by Errazuriz Viñedo Chadwick.
