About Bodega Norton
Located in the wine-rich Mendoza region of Argentina, Bodega Norton is an ancient and reputed winery that was established in 1895 by Sir Edmund James Palmer Norton. Almost 100 years later, in 1989, this wine label was acquired by a businessman from Austria, Gernot Langes-Swarovski. Today, the wines created by the Bodega Norton label are true representations of the character and flavour of the Argentinian grapes.
The five vineyards of Bodega Norton are located across the various rich terroirs of Mendoza, at the foothills of the famous Andes Mountain Range. The best part of this brand is that all the five vineyards can be found in the area known as First Zone, which is known for the highest quality of grapes grown in this area.
The details of the five vinyeards are as follows:
Medrano – This 70-hectare vineyard, located in the town of Junin, can be found near the Lunlunta Hills. It is located at a height of 700m above sea level and is famous for the Chardonnay, Chenin and Bonarda varietals.
Lunlunta – Spread across 20 hectares, this vineyard is located at 850m above sea level. This is dedicated to growing 100% Malbec varietals.
Agrelo – Located at 950m above sea level, these vineyards are spread across 30 hectares. They consist of 93-year old vines. The quality of alluvial soil here makes it apt for growing Malbec varietals.
Perdriel – Spread across a massive 100 hectares, this is the original vineyard of Bodega Norton. The soil quality and climatic condition of this place make it a great choice for growing Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Malbec.
La Colonia – Located at a height of 1100m above sea level, this vineyard contains 450 hectares under vine. All types of varietals are planted here.
At this vineyard, the unique system of mapping the practice was introduced. In this system, every vineyard is divided into small parcels that work independently to achieve maximum productivity.
