About Château De Tracy
Chateau de Tracy is one of the oldest, family-owned wine estates in France. Its history dates back to as early as 1396, as this was the time when the vineyards of Les Champs de Crix was bought by the family. Today, this beautiful 33-acre vineyard is located in the midst of the hills in the Chateau and Vilmoy, which is located at a short distance from Pouilly-sur-Loire. Sauvignon is the flagship varietal of this estate, and almost the entire Domaine is filled with Sauvignon vines.
In 1952, Comte and Comtesse Alain d’Estuff d’Assay reconstructed this family-owned estate. Today, their daughter manages the vineyard and is also at the helm of affairs at the winery. The family ensures that a lot of care is given to the land. The soils here are replete with limestone and flint, which are ideal for growing Sauvignon of the highest quality.
At the vineyards, practices such as no chemicals and minimal intervention are used. This ensures that the grapes represent the true character and richness of the soils of the vineyards at Pouilly Fume. These terroirs are known for their diverse soil conditions. This is why the vines grown here excel in nobility and uniqueness. These vineyards are spread across 1200 hectares. Over 100 winemakers grow their grapes here, and the total production from this region is close to 70,000 hectolitres.
At Tracy Hill, you will find the clayey flint soils. These give a lot of power, character and assertiveness to the wines. At the Plateau du Champs de Cri, you will find a mix of calcareous Kimmeridge and Portland Clay. This blend helps to give elegance, aromas and taste to the wines. These two soil types are highly diverse; it is because of these that the Chateau de Tracy wines are as complex as they are today.
