About Chateau Leoville Barton
Chateau Leoville Barton is a winery in the Bordeaux region of France, in the Saint Julien appellation. It has been under the ownership of the Barton family for more than two hundred years, passing down through generations. The winery's origins trace back to the century when Thomas Barton, a merchant, established it.
The Barton Estate is one of the oldest wineries and dates back to the beginning of the 18th century. Thomas Barton established it as an Irish wine merchant during the year 1725. It is situated at the centre of the Médoc region in Bordeaux, France where there are great microclimatic conditions suitable for cultivation and excellent terroirs. The Bartons have continuously invested in their vines and winemaking facilities, allowing them to produce award-winning wines over the years. It earned a reputation as the best producer of blended Cabernet Sauvignon wines, but the Bartrons also tasted other grapes and created distinctive blends. Without a doubt, their lineage will live on long in many people's memories.
Chateau Leoville Barton is well-known not only for their environmentally friendly efforts but also for their wines. For over two decades, the estate has been practicing sustainable agriculture by using compost instead of chemicals and pesticides to promote biodiversity.
The winery has also installed a photovoltaic system that produces environmentally friendly power. It is a low-carbon initiative that greatly minimises their carbon footprints from this project.
Located on the right side of the Gironde Estuary in the Saint-Julien appellation, it covers an area of 47 hectares. These are the vineyards where the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc grapes are cultivated.
Interestingly, the choice of soils is appropriate for raising quality grapes. The nearness of the Gironde estuary has an impact on maintaining a moderate temperature and ripening of the grapes uniformly.
Chateau Leoville Barton is an agricultural-heritage vineyard, or in other words, a winery. For almost two centuries, the Bartons have been excellent wine producers and noteworthy conservators. It sets the perfect environment for growing high-quality grapes through various practices since the location is convenient.
