About Columbia Crest
Columbia Crest Winery, established in 1983, is located quite close to the Columbia River, towards the east of Washington. The winery, located right in the heart of Horse Heaven Hill, too, started welcoming visitors since then. At the vineyards and the winery, this label aims at creating a perfect blend between traditional and innovative winemaking practices to craft high-quality and premium wines.
The estate vineyards of Columbia Crest are located on a sprawling 2500 acres. It is considered as one of the best in Washington, because all the essential factors such as the climate, water, temperature and soil are just perfect here. Thanks to this perfect atmosphere, the fruits grown here are well-balanced and highly intense.
The wines crafted at Columbia Crest are classified into three ranges. They are:
- Reserve - These are the premium wines that are hand-crafted with the utmost care and diligence. The grapes are sourced from highly fertile parcels and processed in a place known as Petit Chai, which is translated as a “winery within a winery.” This is to ensure that the original flavours and characters of the fruits are retained. Chardonnay, Syrah, Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Cabernet Franc and Merlot are the varietals used for this range. These fruits are sourced from Horse Heaven Hills, Walla Walla Valley, Red Mountain, Yakima Valley and Columbia Valley.
- Grand Estates - All the wines for this range are sourced from Columbia Valley. Columbia Crest partners with some expert winemakers in this valley to bring out the best of this appellation. Pinot Gris, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot and Chardonnay are used for this range.
- H3 This is a range that celebrates the wines sourced from H3 (Horse Heaven Hills). The grapes used to craft these well-balanced and innovative wines are Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. These wines are true examples of the rich heritage of this AVA.
