Product Notes

Framingham Marlborough Pinot Noir is a red wine that is produced in the Marlborough region of New Zealand. This Pinot Noir is known for its rich and fruity flavor profile, with notes of dark cherries, plums, and raspberries. The wine is aged in French oak barrels, giving it a smooth and refined finish. The grapes used to make this wine are carefully selected from the best vineyards in the region, ensuring that only the highest quality grapes are used. This wine pairs well with a variety of foods, including roasted meats, hearty stews, and grilled vegetables. It is a must-try for any Pinot Noir enthusiast.

Tasting Notes

The nose is complex with attractive savoury notes of smoked meats and spice, along with cherry, plum and floral nuances. The rounded palate has flavours of red berry compote and plum with savoury and flinty notes. Well-integrated tannins give the wine a balanced structure.

About the Winery

Framingham

The award-winning Framingham wines are crafted from full-flavoured fruits grown in the eco-friendly vineyards of Blenheim in New Zealand.  The best feature about these wines is that only organic viticulture techniques are used for producing them.  Known for its rich and expressive wine range, the Framingham wine brand makes the best use of the different terroir qualities in New Zealand. Grapes for this brand of wines are sourced from different vineyards, thereby adding a distinct texture and character to the wines produced here.

Known for making limited quantities of wines, this brand currently cultivates varietals such as Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Gewurztraminer, Montepulciano, Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling. The Riesling Vines were planted as early as 1981 in the Wairau Valley by the person who created the Framingham brand, Rex Brooke-Taylor. The alluvial-rich soil in Wairau Valley has made it one of the high-potential Riesling growing regions in Marlborough.

The grape varietals that we mentioned above are cultivated by expert viticulturists in 12 contract vineyards in the Wairau Valley.  Biodynamic principles are employed on these vineyards as chemicals aren’t used at all by the Framingham team during the winemaking process.  Located in the reputed Golden Mile region outside Renwick in the Marlborough region, the Framingham winery was constructed during 1977.

The 100% sustainable winery currently has the capacity to hold a maximum of 40000litres of wines that are fermented well in stainless steel and oak barrels. In the year 2002, the Framingham team upgraded the winery by installing an exclusive facility and barrel for producing red wines. If you are interested to know more about the Framingham wine experience, you can take up the wine-tasting tours or vineyard/underground cellar walk tours. These tours will give you a first-hand experience of the efficient and sustainable winemaking techniques followed by the team at Framingham.
