Product Notes
Giant Steps Fatal Shore Coal River Valley Pinot Noir is a complex, well-structured wine that showcases the best of Tasmanian Pinot Noir. On the nose, it boasts a fragrant bouquet of dark cherries, red raspberries, violets, and earthy notes. The palate is full-bodied and rich, with flavors of black cherries, blackcurrants, and cranberries backed by a subtle hint of oak and vanilla that evolves into a long, spicy finish. This wine has excellent aging potential, and its bold flavors make it an excellent pairing for roasted lamb, grilled steak, or mushroom risotto. Overall, this Pinot Noir is a must-try for wine enthusiasts looking for a sophisticated and elegant tasting experience.
Tasting Notes
The wine is named after `The Fatal Shore` a historical novel, published in 1986, by Australian author and art critic Robert Hughes. It delves into the dark history of Tasmania’s colonisation through the transportation of convicts to this remote and wild island. The wine itself is brooding in nature with impressive depth and fruit purity. Red cherry, rose petal, bracken and blueberries lead to a very energetic palate with tannins that wrap and expand out the finish. It is long and vibrant with a fine backbone of acidity.
