About Huia

The organic and biodynamic wines from the New Zealand based Huia Vineyards are great examples that reflect the richness of the vines cultivated in the Marlborough region. This wine label was established in 1996 and has been following sustainable farming and winemaking techniques since then.

You will not see any pesticides, insecticides, or herbicides being used in the vineyards to retain the natural flavours of the fruits. Wild yeasts are used for the fermentation process and the sustainability of the land is given 100% importance at all times. As part of their sustainable winegrowing initiatives, Huia Vineyards set up the Mana Winegrowers Collective, which consists of a group of organic wine growers.

Some of the natural and popular Huia wines are:

Huia Bubbles

Depending on the season, Chardonnay or Pinot Noir grapes are used for creating this wine in the most traditional way possible. The grapes used for these wines have a naturally high acidic content in them because their leaf cover is retained during processing.

Huia Sauvignon Blanc

The grapes for this wine are sourced from the Huia Vineyards and the Winsome Vineyards.

Huia Gruner Veltliner

This wine is made from hand-harvested Gruner Veltliner grapes cultivated on the Hawkesbury Village in the Marlborough region.

Huia Pinot Gris

The clay-rich soils of the Winsome vineyards and the stony soils of the Huia Vineyards lend a lot of character, aroma and minerality to the Pinot Gris grapes used here.

Huia Gewurztraminer

These are made from the grapes grown on the clay-rich soils of the Winsome vineyards. Only limited vines are planted here to ensure the quality of growth.

Huia Riesling

Riesling grapes, cultivated on two hectares of the Winsome vineyards, are used for making this wine.

Huia Pinot Noir

These grapes are sourced majorly from the Brancott Valley and a few are sourced from the Wairau Valley as well.
