About Kim Crawford
New Zealand is one of the most respected wine producers in the world, because of the richness of its soil quality, climatic conditions and the overall terroir. This has resulted in the country being the birthplace of some of the reputed wine brands in the market like Kim Crawford. The parent company of the Kim Crawford wine label, Constellation Brands, was established during 1990.
The brand itself was launched in the region of Auckland during 1996. Sauvignon Blanc is the flagship grape varietal cultivated here. The long autumn season found on the coastal regions of Kim Crawford’s vineyards makes the grapes to ripen as slowly as possible, thereby adding more flavour, aroma and character to the wines.
The vineyards from where grapes are sourced from for crafting these wines come from the regions of Marlborough and Hawke’s Bay. In Marlborough, this brand brought the vineyards in the year 2000 in Waihopai Valley, known for its cool climate. This place is considered to be the best for growing Sauvignon Blanc grapes, according to wine experts. There are seven selected sub-regions in Marlborough, exclusively dedicated to grow the choicest Sauvignon Blanc grapes.
Located in the North Island of New Zealand, Hawke’s Bay is the most ancient wine producing region in the country, as it was established during 1851. The diverse soil qualities and the Bordeaux-like climate of this place make it ideal for cultivating the country’s finest Chardonnay grapes. The Chardonnay grown here is known for their high acidity and intense flavours.
Apart from Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, the other varietals used to craft wines under this label are Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir. The Kim Crawford Signature Reserve is a wine that you must drink if flavour is an important requirement for you. It is made from Sauvignon Blanc grapes cultivated on selected small lots in the coastal plains of Marlborough.
