About Mulderbosch

Established in the year 1989, the South African wine brand of Mulderbosch was founded by Larry Jacobs. The Stellenbosch region in South Africa is one of the premium wine-producing destinations in the world. Mulderbosch wines are produced by the group’s own vineyards here and in the nearby coastal regions. Jacobs identified the potential of this place, even when the farm was in its underdeveloped stage.

When he joined hands with Mike Dobrovic, his wine label was set to become one of the most loved wines in the country. This is because Dobrovic, by then, was known as Mr. Sauvignon Blanc of South Africa, thanks to this phenomenal knowledge about this varietal and the viticultural and winemaking practices related to that.

Apart from following traditional winemaking methods to bring out the exclusive terroir of Stellenbosch in his wines, Jacobs also ensured that he thought out of the box to make his wines stand out from the rest of the South African brands.  The Chenin Blanc wines, which were fermented in barrels, were first produced at the Mulderbosch winery in South Africa.

The group’s own vineyards extend over 45 hectares, out of which close to 21 hectares are under vine. Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are the most commonly grown varietals in the vineyards. In 2019, the group started sourcing grapes from 17 more blocks, maintained by local vine growers in Stellenbosch & two coastal areas namely Darling & Philadelphia.

The single-vineyard wines of Chenin Blanc (made from grapes grown in a premium vineyard near False Bay) and Cabernet Franc (exclusive site of the group) are highly popular among wine lovers across South Africa.  All the winemaking techniques followed at the Mulderbosch Vineyards are in line with the rules set by the Integrated Production of Wine, to promote sustainable farming in this region.
