Product Notes

Nautilus Estate Pinot Gris is a refreshing and aromatic white wine hailing from the Marlborough region of New Zealand. This wine is made from the Pinot Gris grape, which is very similar to Pinot Grigio. The tasting notes reveal a bouquet of floral aromas such as pear, nashi and apple blossom with hints of spice. On the palate, the wine showcases a creamy texture with notes of ripe pear, quince and stone fruits. The wine is well-balanced with a subtle acidity that lingers on the finish. Nautilus Estate Pinot Gris is a fantastic pairing for seafood, especially lobster, scallops and prawns.

Tasting Notes

Nautilus Pinot Gris is pale straw in colour, with vibrant aromas of pears, ginger and delicate hints of five spice. The medium bodied palate shows concentrated pure fruit flavours with a bright, crisp and dry finish

About the Winery

Nautilus Estate

Nautilus Estate is a small, family-owned wine estate in Marlborough, one of New Zealand’s premium wine-producing regions. The family understood the Marlborough region's potential in 1985, and the first wines were created during then. Wines from this label are highly complex, because unique and modern viticultural practices are followed at the estate’s wineries. Several fruit parcels were blended to get the much-desired complexity in these wines. The winery is known for its state-of-the-art winery with sophisticated tools and techniques.

Nautilus Estate makes its wines from five vineyards located on select slots in the Marlborough region. They are:

Clay Hills Vineyard

Located on the elevated hills of the eastern side of Omaka Valley in the Southern Valley, Clay Hills Vineyard is blessed with imperfectly drained clay soils, which makes it ideal for growing the best quality of Pinot Noir. During the late 1990s, the first vines of Pinot Noir were planted on 4.5 hectares on this vineyard.

Kaituna Vineyard

This is a 20-hectare vineyard that is located at a very short distance from the northern bank of the Wairau River in Kaituna. Sauvignon Blanc is planted on over 14 hectares on this vineyard, while the rest of the area is planted with Pinot Noir vines. Known for its stony alluvium soils, this vineyard experiences a cool climate all through the year.

Lonark Lane Vineyard

This 12-hectare vineyard is located on the upper part of Wairau Valley. Sauvignon Blanc vines can be found on stony alluvium soils here.

Opawa Vineyard

This is a 25-hectare vineyard located along the Rapaura Road. Though almost 23 hectares are dedicated to growing Sauvignon Blanc vines here, a small part of the vineyard is also dedicated to growing Pinot Noir vines.

Renwick Vineyard

Located right in the middle of the Wairau Valley, The Renwick Vineyard stretches across 7 hectares. It contains small lots of Nautilus Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, Gruner Veltiner and Albarino.
