About Nyetimber
Though the Nyetimber Estate’s history dates back to as early as almost 10 centuries ago, the first vines were planted here only during 1988. The unique chalky soil of this region enables the vines to produce excellent grape varietals to create sparkling wines and other wines too. The climate of the south of England, where the Nyetimber vineyards are located, along with the unique soil quality lends a nice acidity, ripeness and complexity to the grapes cultivated here. Today, this place is home to some of the best quality of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier varietals of grapes.
Currently, there are 9 separate vine sites across the counties of Sussex, Hampshire and Kent. This brand uses only estate-grown grape varietals to craft the choicest of wines that are excellent representations of the regional flavour of the grapes grown here. It was during 2006 that Eric Heerema took over the ownership of Nyetimber Wines. In a few years, winemaking experts Cherie Spriggs and her husband, Brad Greatrix joined Eric to craft exquisite and premium quality of wines from this region.
At Nyetimber Wines, the winemaking process is a blend of tradition and innovative methodology. The handpicked fruits are vinified and pressed separately, depending on their flavour and character. Before the wines are released into bottles, they are subjected to extended ageing on lees and post-disgorgement time, so that their flavours settle well.
Some of the popular wines from this brand are:
- Vintage Wine categories of Nyetimber 1086 and Nyetimber Rose
- Blanc de Blancs - made from pure Chardonnay
- Rose - Made from a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir
- Classic Cuvee - Premium wine with fine bubbles with spicy aromas and honey, almond & apple flavours
- Demi-Sec - Come with pure lemon, mineral and honey tones with crisp acidity
Nyetimber Wines come with the tagline, Perfectly British! This is because they are true representations of the unique English climate and soil.
