About Pine Ridge Vineyards
Located in the Stags Leap District of Napa Valley, Pine Ridge Vineyards is nestled within the beautiful pine forests. The soils of these vineyards are so fertile that they produce Cabernet Sauvignons that are popular all over the world. This wine label was established in 1978. Today, this group sources fruits from four of the best appellations in Napa Valley, such as Howell Mountains, Oakville, Rutherford and Carneros. This way, they make use of the diverse terroirs of these appellations to produce high-quality fruits. Here is a brief overview of each of these vineyards:
Stags Leap District
Currently, there are four vineyards in this main area. They are Pine Ridge Estate, Locked Horns Vineyard, Cornerstone Vineyard and Circle Hill Vineyard. The Cabernet Sauvignons created here are highly intense and have deep-fruit characteristics because this region has diverse soils like rocky, sandy and loamy. During the daytime, the vineyards are exposed to a lot of heat, whereas during the nights, the soils are exposed to the cool breeze from the nearby San Pablo Bay.
Howell Mountain
Located at least around 2000 feet above sea level, the Las Posadas Vineyard in this region enjoys dry and volcanic soils. As a result, the fruits grown are intense, have dark colours and thick skins.
Oakville
Located near the Mayacamas Mountains, this vineyard enjoys red, volcanic soils, thanks to which the Cabernet Sauvignons are highly intense in character.
Rutherford
The Rutherford Ridge Vineyard is quite historical and is a great mix of alluvial and clayey soils. This explains the richness of Cabernet Sauvignons that are grown here.
Carneros
Since the San Pablo Bay is quite nearby, all the three vineyards here (Carneros Collines Vineyard, McKinnon Vineyard and Olive Pond Vineyard) enjoy cool climatic conditions. The silty, clayey and loamy soils here are ideal for growing Merlot and Chardonnay varietals.
