About Piper-Heidsieck

Considered to be one of the best Champagne manufacturers globally, the Piper Heidsieck brand originated in 1777 in the historic Champagne region of France. The founder of this brand, Florens Louis Heidsieck, started this brand to make wines that smile. Though he was originally from Germany, he was one of the first to spot the potential of the Champagne area, and discover wines here in the early 17th century.

In 1785, the Piper Heidsieck Champagnes got international recognition when Florens made the Queen of France, Marie Antoinette, take the first sip of the champagne bubbles he had created. The Queen was so impressed with the taste and quality of the champagne produced here, that she became the first brand ambassador of Heidsieck’s champagne.

By the early 18th century, the Heidsieck and Piper families got together to create some of the best champagnes the word had ever tasted till then. During this time, royals from all over the world came to adore the champagnes created by Heidsieck and elaborated by Piper. Today, the huge popularity of the Champagne House in France, was all due to the conglomerate of two influential winemaking families of Heidsieck and Piper.

By the 1940s and 1950s, the champagnes of this label had taken Hollywood by storm. Great Hollywood legends like Ava Gardner, Humphrey Bogart and Madonna endorsed Piper-Heidsieck champagnes, which led to a huge demand for this brand’s champagnes in the wine market internationally. For the 200th anniversary of this brand, in 1985, luxury jewellery designer Van Cleef & Arpels designed a commemorative bottle – one that was lined with diamonds and lapis lazuli!

In the year 1995, a new and amazing winery that could house 200 stainless steel wine vats, was established in the Champagne House. This winery was built with the highest quality standards, using state-of-the-art technology and modern machinery. In the year 2011, the Champagne House was taken over by the Descours family.
