Product Notes

Poggio al Tesoro Solosole Vermentino is a delightful white wine from the Tuscan region of Italy. Made entirely from Vermentino grapes, this wine is revered for its intense aromas of tropical fruits and citrus with a floral hint. On the palate, it is dry and refreshing, showcasing flavors of juicy pineapple, tangy lemon, and a touch of fresh herbs. Its flavors are well-rounded, well-balanced, and persistent, with a zesty finish that leaves a pleasing aftertaste in the mouth. Best served chilled, this wine is the perfect accompaniment to seafood, sushi, salads, and light appetizers. The Poggio al Tesoro Solosole Vermentino is a crowd favorite and must-try for any white wine lover.

About the Winery

Poggio al Tesoro

Bolgheri in Italy is one of the excellent and diverse regions in Italy with its exquisite landscapes and multi-coloured soil types. The terroir of this place consists of terraces, slopes, plains and the sea – all of which contribute to the exquisite quality of fruits used for the Poggio Al Tesoro brand of wines.

In Italy, Poggio Al Tesoro means “hill of treasure.” When Marilisa and her brother, Walter, established this brand, they wanted to create wines that truly justified the exceptional terroir and the strategic geographic location of the Bolgheri territory.

The expert winemaking team at Poggio Al Tesoro ensures that the wines created here are of top-quality. The power, complexity, elegance and depth found in these wines are one of the best in Italy. Today, this wine estate is spread across 70 hectares, and is an important landmark in the Bolgheri region.

The vineyards are located across these regions:

  • Via Bolgherese – Spread across 7 hectares, this vineyard has 51% Cabernet Sauvignon and 49% Cabernet Franc varietals planted in it.
  • Le Grottine – In this 7-hectare vineyard, you will find 45% Petit Verdot, 33% Cabernet Franc and 22% Cabernet Sauvignon varietals. While the sandy soils here were used to grow Petit Verdot, the stony soils are absolutely ideal for Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
  • Le Sondraie – The soil in this vineyard is rich in magnesium content and it helps to grow many varietals such as Merlot (20%), Cabernet Sauvignon (18%), Cabernet Franc (28%), Vermentino (16%), Syrah (16%) and Petit Verdot (26%). Apart from the mineral content, this vineyard is also known for its diverse soil types, which make it ideal for growing quite a few varietals.
  • Valle di Cerbaia – This is also a 7-hectare vineyard, where you will find almost equal quantity of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Viognier varietals.
