Product Notes

Gabriëlskloof Bot River Sauvignon Blanc is a crisp and refreshing white wine that is perfect for warm summer days. This wine comes from the Bot River region in South Africa, which is known for producing some of the best Sauvignon Blanc in the world. The aroma of this wine is lively, with hints of lime, gooseberry and pineapple. On the palate, you can taste the fruit flavors along with a subtle minerality that adds to the complexity of the wine. The finish is bright and zesty, leaving you feeling refreshed and satisfied. This wine pairs perfectly with seafood, salads, and light appetizers.

Tasting Notes

This is a classic Sauvignon Blanc with bright aromas of lime zest, passion fruit and flint on the nose. The palate is light bodied and well balanced with refreshing acidity and citrus notes on the finish.

About the Winery

Gabriëlskloof

The wines of South Africa are known for their unique nature that reflect the spirit of the terroir and the character of their region where the fruit is cultivated. Gabrielskloof wines are no different. It was during 2001 that Bernard Heyns zeroed in on a farm, Avonturr, located on the outskirts of Botrivier, to realise his aim of creating wines that reflected that richness of their terroir.

The farm which Bernard bought, and the area surrounding it, is today known as Gabrielskloof. Sustainability is the key principle followed here, as all the vineyard related work is done by hand. Right from the time of planting the vines until the time of harvest, natural materials are used, so as to not disturb the environment in any way. The fact is the vineyards of Gabrielskloof are given a status of Biodiversity and Wine Champion, is a testimony for this.

The winemaking process also takes place with as little minimum intervention as possible. Using natural yeasts for fermentation and the finest grain French oak barrels during the process are some steps that the winemaking team at Gabrielskloof takes in this regard.

The wines created here are classified into two types - the Estate Range and Landscape Series. The former contains wines that are of exceptional quality and value, whereas the latter features top quality wines made from grapes sourced at Gabrielskloof’s vineyards as well as other historic vineyards of South Africa.

The wines in the Estate Range are:

  • Rose bud - 58% Syrah, 42% Viognier
  • Sauvignon Blanc
  • Chenin Blanc
  • The Blend - 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Cabernet Franc, 17% Malbec and 14% Petit Verdot
  • Syrah

The wines in the Landscape Series are:

  • Magdalena - Franschhoek Semillon and Gabrielskloof Sauvignon Blanc
  • Elodie - Chenin Blanc
  • Syrah on Shale - Gabrielskloof Syrah
  • Syrah on Sandstone

Cabernet Franc - single vineyard fruit from the Gabrielskloof farm
