About the Winery

Located in the Barossa Valley of Australia, John Duval Wines was established in 2003. John Duval, the founder, had rich experience in the field of winemaking as he had spent close to three decades with one of Australia’s most reputed wineries, Penfolds. The Duval family also managed quite a few high-quality vineyards. They had supplied Shiraz grapes to Penfolds, even before John quit that company to launch his own wine label in 2003.

Five wineries joined together to form the group called “Artisans of Barossa.” John Duval Wines is one of them. This group works towards the common goal of encouraging the distinct and unique winemaking cultures of each of the wineries’ respective regions. John Duval first created the Plexus wine using a blend of the Shiraz, Grenache and Mourvedre, as he wanted a Rhone-style blend of wine that reflected the richness of the regions of fruit cultivation. One of the best philosophies of John Duval is that he doesn’t want to take the place of any other brand in the market; he only wanted to use his four-decade wine experience to craft exquisite quality of wines from premium quality of grapes. It is because of this reason that the wines crafted here have an individuality that cannot be explained in words.
