Product Notes
Masciarelli Marina Cvetic Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is a red Italian wine made from the Montepulciano grape grown in the Abruzzo region. The Masciarelli winery is a family-run business, started by Gianni Masciarelli in the 1980s and now continued by his wife Marina Cvetic. The grapes for this wine are grown at higher altitudes on hillsides with stony, limestone-rich soil. The resulting wine is full-bodied with flavors of dark fruit, chocolate, and spice, along with a smooth, velvety texture and pleasant tannins. It can be paired with meat dishes, pasta, and aged cheeses. Masciarelli Marina Cvetic Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is an excellent representation of the high-quality wines produced in this lesser-known region of Italy.
Tasting Notes
The style here is big wine with a sense of balance, deep, dark, brooding black fruits, earth, truffle and mineral, all surrounded by copious yet ripe tannins and perfect acidity. That makes this bruiser light enough on its feet to accompany even the famed 'crudo' (for which read 'raw') seafood preparations so prevalent in Abruzzo.
