Product Notes

Querciabella Batàr is a luxurious white wine blend produced by the prestigious Italian winery, Querciabella. Crafted with meticulous care and precision, Batàr is a harmonious fusion of Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc grapes sourced from the estate's biodynamic vineyards in Tuscany. This unique wine exudes elegance and complexity, with aromas of ripe tropical fruits, citrus, and floral notes. On the palate, Batàr showcases a rich and creamy texture, balanced by lively acidity and a lingering finish. Perfect for special occasions or indulgent moments, Querciabella Batàr is a true expression of Italian winemaking expertise and artistry.

Tasting Notes

The 2020 Batàr, Querciabella’s Chardonnay/ Pinot Blanc white is laced with hints of tangerine oil, jasmine, spice and pear. Light tropical accents appear later adding gorgeous nuance throughout. The move toward high elevation vineyards and picking earlier yields a Batàr endowed with terrific freshness and plenty of style.

About the Winery

Querciabella

The history and story of Querciabella began in 1974 when wine lover and industrial entrepreneur, Giuseppe (Pepito) Castiglioni, purchased a single hectare of land on a hillside in Tuscany. He poured all his dreams and aspirations into the plot, expanding it significantly and increasing its fame. Giuseppe wishes to produce rich and elegant wines from grape varieties such as Sangiovese, Burgundy, Merlot, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Blanc, and Bordeaux. It was what set the basis for the establishment and growth of Querciabella.

With Querciabella’s growth, the winery incorporates beneficial techniques and methods. For instance, the estate took over an organic viticulture approach in 1988 under the supervision and guidance of Giuseppe’s son, Sebastiano Cossia Castiglioni. Since then, Querciabella has become one of the leading wine producers and suppliers globally.

In the 2000s, Sebastiano contemplated the winery’s responsibility to preserve and uphold the environment. It led to the implementation of biodynamic practices in the vineyards and cellars of the winery. Today, Querciabella operates with the philosophy of maintaining and promoting balance. The wine estate believes that the complex biological diversity network functioning in its vineyards set the foundation of its winemaking processes. Thus, the staff work while respecting nature; they eliminate the use of agrochemicals that may disrupt the ecosystem and pollute the land. Instead, they use sustainable methods such as cover crops to attain their goals. It, in turn, allows the wines produced by Querciabella to represent their terroir and its attributes.

The vineyards owned by Querciabella expand over 74 hectares of superior Chianti Classico vineyards. They remain spread across the Radda, Gaiole, and Greve communes. In addition to that, the winery’s 32 hectares of plot in Maremma represent Italy’s most significant extension of organic-certified vineyards. The winery implements organic and biodynamic viticulture and vinification practices on all its lands.
