Product Notes

Santa Rita Casa Real Reserva Especial Cabernet Sauvignon is a prestigious wine from Chile's Maipo Valley. This exceptional wine is made from the Cabernet Sauvignon grape, which is renowned for producing wines with rich and complex flavors. The Santa Rita Casa Real Reserva Especial Cabernet Sauvignon is aged for 24 months in French oak barrels, giving it a smooth and elegant finish. With a deep ruby red color, this wine offers a fruity aroma with hints of vanilla, tobacco, and coffee. Its full-bodied taste boasts flavors of ripe berries, spices, and dark chocolate. This wine is perfect to pair with red meat, game, and mature cheeses.

Tasting Notes

It was without a doubt a year of climatic contrasts that did not predict quality, but a deep knowledge of this little piece of terroir that is home to this old-vine Cabernet gave rise to an extraordinary wine with tannic force but great elegance and balance at the same time. It is bright, expressive, and fresh, with a backdrop of the ripe fruits and spices characteristic of the location. Its concentration and balance ensure tremendous aging potential.

About the Winery

Santa Rita

The Maipo Valley in Chile is one of the popular wine regions in the world today. However, in 1880, when Don Domingo Fernandez Concha established the Santa Rita estate, not many people had known about the potential of this region. Concha not only set up his estate here, but he also introduced French grape varietals and French winemaking techniques in his winery. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to state that Concha was one of the pioneers of the winemaking industry in Chile.

During the year 1980, the ownership of Santa Rita came under the Claro Group. To date, Santa Rita is known for using modern and advanced tools for making authentic Chilean wines. Currently, Santa Rita grows fruits in some of the important wine regions of Chile such as Aconcagua, Limari Valley, Apalta, Rapel Valley and Casablanca Valley. On all these vineyards, major parcels are dedicated to growing Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenere. However, you will also see small lots of Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot and Chardonnay in these vineyards.

Almost 39% of Santa Rita’s wines are produced in Central Valley, while 29% of the wines comes from the Maipo Valley and 18% from the Rapel Valley. The diverse soil qualities found in these vineyards help this wine estate to create some of the top-quality and intense wines of Chile.

The Casa Real is the flagship wine of Santa Rita. It is made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon cultivated in the Alto Jahuel region in the Maipo Valley. The fruits grown here are well-balanced, and are very flavourful. Stainless steel and concrete tanks, regulated with temperatures of 24 to 26 degrees Celsius, are used for fermenting these red grapes. These wines are aged for 20 months, and for this purpose, 75% new French oak barrels and 25% old barrels are used. It has a cellaring potential of more than 20 years.
