The Seghesio family-owned winery has been in the industry for over 100 years. Around 3 years ago, this brand celebrated its 120th anniversary in Sonoma County in the USA. The wine brand has been creating waves in the wine industry for over five generations now. It all started in the year 1895 when an expert winemaker and Italian immigrant, Edoardo Seghesio planted the first Zinfandel vineyard in the Alexander Valley located in Sonoma County.
The vineyards located in Home Ranch are spread across 130 acres and you will find around 60% Zinfandel, 20%Sangiovese, 15% Petite Sirah and 5% Barbera plantings here. The vineyards on Rattlesnake Hill are spread across 30 acres and you will find 65% Sangiovese and 35% Zinfandel plantings here. In the Sisters area, the vineyards of Seghesio Wines are spread across 15 acres and you will find 75% Zinfandel and 25% Aglianico plantings here.
The vineyards located on Montafi are quite ancient and the Zinfandel plantings were done here during as early as 1926. The total area of these vineyards is around 21 acres, and they have around 99% Zinfandel and 1% Alicante Bouschet plantings here. The Chen’s vineyard is spread across 45 acres and it is completely filled with Zinfandel plantings. The same applies to the 56-acre vineyard located on River Road and the 25-acre vineyard at Lone Oak.
Seghesio Wines also uses grapes cultivated in the Keyhole Ranch and Rockpile. At Keyhole Ranch, the vineyards are spread across 72 acres and contain a mixture of plantings that include 40% Pinot Grigio, 35% Arneis and 25% Vermentino varietals. At Rockpile, the vineyards are located across various regions such as Westphall Ranch, Botticelli and Mauritson. Here you will find only 100% Zinfandel plantings. Though the winemaking techniques have changed, there is one principle that the Seghesio Wine brand holds quite close to its heart – it is its commitment to sustainability.
