Product Notes

Tbilvino Saperavi is a rich and full-bodied red wine produced in the heart of Georgia's wine country. Made from the native Saperavi grape varietal, Tbilvino Saperavi boasts deep color, spicy aromas, and complex flavors of dark fruits, blackberries, and plums. This wine is aged in oak barrels which give it a subtle hint of vanilla and smoke. It has a long and pleasant finish with a good balance of acidity and tannins, making it a perfect pairing with Georgian cuisine such as shashlik, khinkali, and khachapuri. Tbilvino Saperavi is a must-try for anyone who is looking to explore the world of Georgian wine.

Tasting Notes

Wine has a flavor of grapes with cherry and blackberry undertones, perfectly combined with vanilla and oak aromas. It has a long and delightful aftertaste.

About the Winery

Tbilvino

The origin of one of the biggest wineries in Georgia, Tbilvino, dates back to 1962. The country’s biggest wine factory was opened during this time, and this saw quite a few changes in leadership and administration in Georgia’s wine industry. After many years of change of ownership, two brothers, Zurab and Giorgi Margvelashvili, took over the control of the company.  Since then, Tbilvino’s popularity has been on the rise.

An experienced winemaking team, using a blend of traditional and new winemaking techniques, planting many local grape varietals and a presence in over 30 countries have made Tbilvino a popular name in Georgia and the rest of the world.  In 2008, the Tbilisi Winery underwent a major reconstruction, so that it could be equipped to deal with all the modern technologies of winemaking. The winery also got the ISO quality certifications that same year.

Right from the very next year, Tbilvino advanced to the stage of being the No.1 exporter of Georgian wine for many years. As the winery started progressing, it started expanding as well.  The Kvareli winery was constructed in 2012. The unique fact about this winery is that it processes grapes using sophisticated machinery, but traditional methods.

Currently, this label owns 226 hectares of vineyards, located across the regions of Mukuzani and Kindzmaraul. With both these regions being micro-zones, they have a well-equipped irrigation system to take care of the fertility of the vines. In all the wineries combined, Tbilvino makes 29 different types of wines currently. The best European and Georgian methods and technologies are used for making these wines.

The wines of Tbilvino are extremely intense and influenced by the characters of the terroirs where they are cultivated. Some of the exotic and native grape varietals used for making these wines are Rkatsiteli, Kalchuri Mtsvane, Kisi, Tsolikauri, Ojaleshi, Saperavi, Aleksandrouli and Mujuretuli.
