Product Notes

Torbreck Woodcutters Shiraz is a premium wine that blends the classic taste of the Shiraz grape with the unique flavors of the Barossa Valley. Produced in the heart of Australia’s oldest wine-producing region, this wine is handcrafted using traditional fermentation methods to ensure every bottle has the perfect balance of flavor and texture. The flavor profile of Torbreck Woodcutters Shiraz is rich and complex, with notes of blackberry, blueberry, and plum, along with hints of chocolate, cedar, and vanilla. The wine has a full-bodied structure and a lingering finish that leaves a pleasant and satisfying aftertaste. With its luxurious taste and aromas, this wine is perfect for special celebrations or as a gift to a wine connoisseur.

Tasting Notes

Full of freshness and bright youthful fruits, the 2019 vintage brings an opulence and class to the wines. Aromatic plum and raspberries with freshness and balance, the wine has a round central core of red fruit that gives way to a complex mid-palate full of cassis, dark cherry, spice and vanilla. While offering immense pleasure in its youth, the 2018 Woodcutter’s - Shiraz will certainly develop into an impressive wine with a few more years in the cellar. A fantastic introduction to the Torbreck range.

About the Winery

Torbreck

Located in Australia’s premium wine-producing region of Barossa Valley, Torbreck Estate was established in 1994 to produce some exceptional quality Rhone-style wines. The first vines were planted here during the 1840s. The plantings were all of Rhone Valley varietals, such as, Shiraz, Grenache and Mourvedre. Today, the red and white wines produced at Torbreck are considered some of the best in the Barossa region.

With its great Mediterranean climate, Barossa has the perfect English tradition of winemaking, which suits Torbreck’s techniques. This region had a rich history of over 175 years of winemaking when this label was created. Therefore, the management of Torbreck decided that they would continue to make wines from Barossa, the region that lent unique structure, flavour and elegance to the wines.

At Torbreck, the team practices minimal intervention at all times, to give respect to the land that creates the fruits. Maintaining low yields, using indigenous yeasts for fermentation, hand-harvesting of the fruits and allowing them to age naturally & gracefully are some of the sustainable techniques practiced here.

Over a period of time, Torbreck also managed to acquire some of the precious Barossa vineyards. They started making exceptional wines, because they invested in great & fertile vineyards, such as, Hillside Vineyard at Lyndoch, Laird Vineyard at Marananga and Schultz Family’s Greenock Keller Vineyard. By 2008, the estate had its own winery and bottling line. By 2017, Torbreck had grown so big that its cellar door got transformed into an international guest centre. Currently, this centre welcomes wine lovers from across the world.

One of the highlights to watch out for at Torbreck is the 225l oak barriques, used for maturing the grapes at the Laird Vineyard. These barriques are so unique that they are regarded as one of the finest in the world. These were handcrafted by expert French winemaker, Dominique Laurent.
