Product Notes

Viña Echeverria Reserva Carmenère is a rich and complex wine crafted in the Maipo Valley region of Chile. It is made using 100% Carmenère grapes, which are handpicked and carefully sorted before being fermented and aged in French oak barrels for 12 months. The result is a deep ruby-colored wine with intense aromas of black currant, blackberry, and spices, which are complemented by subtle notes of vanilla and mocha. On the palate, this wine is full-bodied with soft and velvety tannins, making for a smooth and elegant finish. It pairs well with grilled meats, stews, and mature cheeses, making it an excellent choice for any occasion.

Tasting Notes

With gentle tannins, this flavoursome Carmenère combines intense aromas of raspberries and cherries with ripe red bell pepper and hints of black pepper. Smooth and velvety, it is well balanced, with spice and berry fruit mirrored on the palate

About the Winery

Viña Echeverria

The wines from the Chilean brand of Echeverria are some of the most historical in this region. The Echeverria family originally belonged to Spain, but moved to Chile during the 1750s to make it big in the wine industry. It was during 1930 that this family realised the potential of the Curico Valley, located at a distance of 200km from the Chilean capital of Santiago.

In the year 1979 Roberto Echeverria, in a bid to realise his winemaking passion and carry forward his family’s historic winemaking tradition, got to work to transform the wine scene in Chile. After almost 15 years of single-minded dedication towards his objective, he was able to release the label’s first wine in the international market in the year 1993.

One of the main reasons for the unique flavour and characteristics of the wines created here is the quality of the soil, favourable climatic conditions and nature of terroir in the Curico Valley. Thanks to the abundant presence of the sea breezes and the mountains on the coastal side, the climate here favour the production of intense red & white varietals. It is not surprising to know that more than 30 varietals of grapes are grown in this estate.

The vineyards cover an area of 65 hectares and the main varietals cultivated here are Chardonnay, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Carmenere and Cabernet Franc. Precision viticulture is the technique followed here, due to which, a detailed system is followed in the process of cultivation & harvesting of grapes.

When you visit the wine estate, don’t miss out on the beautiful museum situated right in the centre. This was a cellar earlier and it still houses some of the relics from the last century. Inside the museum, you will find the 30000l wooden vat even today. Minimum intervention is the winemaking technique followed here.
