Product Notes

Chateau Viramiere is a stunning winery located in the heart of the Saint-Emilion appellation in Bordeaux, France. Its vineyards are planted on the region's unique limestone plateau, which is known to produce extraordinary wines. The vineyard is spread across ten hectares and is composed of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon varietals. The winery's production is limited to only thirty thousand bottles per year, ensuring that every bottle is crafted with precision and care. The wine is a deep ruby red with aromas of black cherry and earthy undertones, with a palate of concentrated black fruit, velvety tannins, and a long finish. Chateau Viramiere St-Emilion Grand Cru is a pure expression of Bordeaux winemaking at its finest.

About the Winery

Chateau Viramiere

Chateau Viramiere is a family-owned wine estate that is located in France. The estate, managed by over 6 generations, is known for its rich heritage and history. The prestigious family is a member of the St. Emilion Union de Producteurs, which ensures that the management has access to some of the best estates and winemaking techniques in the region. In the year 1999, the eight villages that came under the jurisdiction of Saint Emilion were recognised by the UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Today, many years later, the wines produced in this region are known for their exceptional character and elegance. Though it has a winemaking history of over 1000 years, this region has retained its rich terroir and soil quality intact.

Part of the Saint Emilion Appellation, the vineyards of Chateau Viramiere are spread across 14 hectares. The limestone-rich clayey soils of this region are ideal for growing full-bodied and intense varietals such as Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. On the 14 hectares, close to 84% is dedicated to Merlot, 13% to Cabernet Franc and 3% to Cabernet Sauvignon vines. These vines are at least 35 years old, which explains the mystery behind the unique flavour of the fruits produced here. While the fruits are harvested by machine, they are fermented in stainless steel tanks to retain their aroma and flavours. For the ageing process, the winery at Chateau Viramiere uses 70% used wine barrels and 30% new barrels until the wines are bottled. Currently, the average annual production of the Chateau Viramiere label is estimated at around 700 hectolitres. The unique flavour and aroma of these wines make them a massive hit in countries such as Germany, China and the United States of America as well.

Since it is part of the Saint Emilion Wine Council, the vineyards of Chateau Viramiere are known for their sustainable wine growing methods that not only help the local farmers but the lands as well.
