Product Notes
The Boekenhoutskloof Franschhoek Cabernet Sauvignon is a full-bodied red wine with complex and intense flavors. It is made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes sourced from vineyards in the Franschhoek Valley, South Africa. The wine is aged for 20 months in French oak barrels, adding layers of vanilla, spice, and smoky notes to the wine. On the palate, it has concentrated flavors of blackcurrant, black cherry, and plum, with hints of tobacco and chocolate. This wine has a firm tannin structure and a long, lingering finish. It can be enjoyed now or cellared for 5-10 years to mature and develop further complexity.
Tasting Notes
The nose is subtle, yet perfumey with its complex bouquet of red currant, dark cherries and blueberry and enticing whiffs of bergamot and cedar. Red and dark berry fruit follows through onto a medium-bodied palate with flavours of fresh fig and nutmeg. The mid-palate is focused, silky and poised with a charcoal-edged texture and very fine-grained tannins, with perfect acidity to balance. The wine lingers with hints of clove, crushed gravel and cocoa powder on a mineral-tinged, pure finish.
