Product Notes
Spier Frans K. Smit White Blend is a delicious blend of several grape varieties, originating from Spier Wine Farm in South Africa. The wine is named after its renowned winemaker, Frans K. Smit, who has received much acclaim for his attention to detail and commitment to quality. The blend features a harmonious combination of Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, and Viognier grapes, resulting in a refreshing and complex wine. Aromas of peach, apricot, and passion fruit are followed by a palate of lively citrus and tropical flavors with a long, clean finish. Spier Frans K. Smit White Blend is a perfect pairing with a variety of dishes, from seafood to chicken to fresh green salads.
Tasting Notes
This Bordeaux-style white offers harmoniously balanced, subtly articulated flavours. Soft, rounded and refined, it has traces of the unexpected, like fig leaves on the nose and the merest hint of elderflower. This complexity of flavours comes from very selective sourcing and attention to detail. The presence of oak is a barely-there sensation, on the nose rather than the palate. This stirs yet more complexity into its wonderful creaminess. While already intriguingly complex, the 2017 vintage promises to become increasingly layered over the coming years and will show best at 5 – 8 years after harvest.
