Product Notes

Bodegas Hermanos Pecina Rioja Crianza is a red wine made from the Tempranillo grape variety grown exclusively in the Rioja DOC of Spain. This wine enjoys a 12-month aging period in oak barrels and another 12 months in the bottle before release. It has an intense, ruby color and a complex aroma of blackberries, vanilla, and spice. On the palate, it is smooth, balanced, and elegant with delicate notes of oak, red fruit, and hints of leather. This full-bodied wine pairs perfectly with roasted meats, savory stews, and mature cheeses. Bodegas Hermanos Pecina Rioja Crianza is an excellent choice for wine enthusiasts looking for a premium Rioja wine that embodies the region's rich winemaking heritage.

About the Winery

Bodegas Hermanos Pecina

Bodegas Hermanos Pecina was established in 1992. The founder is Pedro Pecina Crespo and his 3 children. They started at a small winery located at the heart of San Vicente de la Sonsierra. At the time of inception, only one wine was elaborated. This was the Cosechero. In 1997, a new phase was initiated. This involved the creation of a brand-new bodega as well as the creation of aged red wines and white wines. These are Gran Reservas, Reservas, and Crianzas.

Pedro engaged in grape growing, and with time, he accumulated a lot of experience over the years. He used the old-school historical bodega to gain more experience. This was a very good location for launching projects under his guidance. The bodega covered an area of 50 hectares where he grew his vineyards. This installation was capable of handling around 1 million kilos of grapes. There was also enough room to install 4500 oak barrels (American) that were fitted in three cellars. Also included were two ageing stores that could handle 500,000 bottles. The capacity of the winery is incredible and has enabled consistency in wine production and supply.

Since bodegas Hermanos Pecina was founded, there have been great investments in some new projects every year. This has gained the winery its current glory. In 1992, it was all about the foundation of the bodega and its inauguration of the same. Another new bodega was inaugurated in 1997, pushing the expansion phase further. In 1999, a new wine shop was opened, and the winery also offered free tours for those interested to see the bodega.

A dining room was constructed, and it was opened in 2000. The dining room has a capacity of thirty guests. In 2003, a new cellar was inaugurated with a 1000 barrels capacity. In 2005, a gravity elaboration system designed by the owners was inaugurated. This was a unique thing in Spain.

A new employee housing, as well as facilities for agricultural storing, was inaugurated. This was set up close to the main building in 2006. In the following year, the recreation park and hardens were further expanded. Further constructions were completed in 2011. Among the areas constructed was a new cellar that was meant to be used for ageing Chobeo de Pecona wines, an old vintage wines preservation area, and a social room called amigos de Pecina.
