About the Winery

Heartland

It wasn’t until the late 1990s that the world came to know about the extremely high quality of grapes grown in some of the lesser-explored regions of South Australia, especially Langhorne Creek. It took the efforts of expert winemaker Ben Glaetzer to explore this region and understand it's potential to create tasty handcrafted wine.

The first vintage of this winery was created in 2001, thanks to the joint efforts of experienced winemakers Ben and others. What started as a small setup is an award-winning and well-appreciated winery in this region now. Today, the Heartland winery produces only red wines and Langhorne Creek is the only area where the winery gets its grapes from.

Located at just about an hour’s drive away from Adelaide, Langhorne Creek is one of the most ancient wine regions in Australia. Some of the country’s oldest and lesser-known viticulture methods are employed for growing the vines here. The southerly-wind dominated climate and alluvial-rich sandy loam soil are two of the main reasons for the full character and flavour of the grapes grown here.  Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and their related blends are the common varietals grown here.

The high-quality handcrafted Heartland wines are created at Barossa Vintners, located at about 100km from Langhorne Creek. This winery is fully equipped to create 100% natural and authentic wines. Established in 1995, this winery is built on a naturally sloping land, which helps the winery to be gravity fed, thereby eliminating the need for harshly pumping them. The vineyards in Langhorne Creek are cultivated in such a way so that they offer full protection to the environment.

If you want to sit back and enjoy some of the best wines from Heartland, you have to visit the winery’s cellar door located at the Winehouse, about an hour’s drive from Adelaide. This is a wonderful place for wine lovers to spend some quality time with their loved ones.
