Olivier and Franck Mousset, the fourth generation winemakers of the Mousset family, have been making the Clos Saint Michel range of wines to represent the true character of the Rhone Valley in France, where the vines are planted. With the sea close by and an abundant presence of pebbles in the soil, it is no wonder that the wines crafted under this label reflect the fertile nature of the terroirs where the fruits are grown. The Mousset family currently makes wines under four different labels such as Clos Saint Michel, Trend Range, Domaine Guy Mousset and Children of Winegrowers.
The wines that the Mousset family creates under the Clos Saint Michel Range are the following:
Clos Saint Michel White
This wine is made from 30% Grenache, 30% Clairette, 20% Roussanne and 20% Bourboulenc varietals. These Chateauneuf du Pape white wines are considered to the best white wines in the entire South France region.
Clos Saint Michel, Reserved Cuvee
This red wine is made from 30% old Syrah vines, 40% Grenache and 30% Mourvedre varietals. The unique texture and aroma of this wine are because of the terraced cultivation that happens on the pebble-rich soils that help in the transformation of maximum heat to the fruit.
Clos Saint Michel, Great Wine
This is a red wine made from an equal blend of Syrah and Grenache grape varietals. It is made from the grapes that are grown on select plots in the south of Chateauneuf du Pape. These special plots contain pebbles like other areas, but they are also rich in clay & limestone content, which make the fruits more full-bodied here than the ones grown elsewhere.
Clos Saint Michel, Red Tradition
This is an exquisite red wine made from 40% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 30% Mourvedre varietals. These vines are grown in the old bed of the Rhone region of France.
