Massolino Dolcetto d'Alba is a vibrant and expressive red wine created in the Piedmont region of Italy. It showcases the typical characteristics that Dolcetto grapes are known for - dark violet hues, fruity aromas of sour cherry, blackberry and plum, hints of spice, and a slightly bitter finish. The wine is full-bodied and smooth with a delicate tannic structure, making it a versatile match for a wide range of dishes, including roasted or grilled meats, stews, pasta with tomato-based sauces, and cheese platters. It enjoys a well-deserved reputation as an excellent food pairing wine and is a popular choice for those seeking an affordable yet high-quality red wine.

This is a bright ruby-red, fresh, fruity and elegant Dolcetto with red berry aromas on the nose. The palate opens to a multitude of flavours of red cherries and berries. The concentration of flavours is balanced by the refreshing acidity that is evident on the long persistent finish

About the Winery

Massolino

The century-old, family-owned, Italian wine brand of Massolino is one of those wines that stay true to the character and richness of their soil. It was in the year 1896 that the founder of the Massolino label, Giovanni established his wine estate in Serralunga d’Alba, the home of this brand today.

The Massolino wine estate comprises of 23 hectares and the wines made here reflect a deep bond in the process involved right from the cultivation of the vines to the ultimate bottling stage. These vineyards include areas such as the following:

Classic Barolo - This is the home of the indigenous grape varietal, Nebbiolo. Located at a height of around 360m, this 7-hectare vineyard in Serralunga d’Alba has many subzones in it. This helps to create grapes of different spicy and floral notes. You will mostly find calcareous soil in this area.

Margheria - Located at about 340m above sea level, these vineyards comprise an area of 1.5 hectares. Though this vineyard was purchased only in the 1970s, it has become one of the popular cru vineyards of the Massolino family today. The grapes grown here are spicy and have a lot of mineral content in them.

Parafada - This area contains lime soil predominantly and is located at an altitude of about 330m. It covers an area of about 1.13 hectares. The ridge that protects the vines from the strong winds helps to add a lot of character and elegance to the grapes grown here.

Vigna Rionda - Considered as one of the best-located vineyards of this estate, Vigna Rionda encompasses 2.3 hectares and is located at about 330m above sea level. The limestone-rich soil is ideal for creating potent wines.

Parussi - Located in a hilly region, the Parussi vineyards comprise an area of 1.3 hectares and are placed at a height of 300m above sea level.
